Brad was right about favorite movie lists. I fucked it up. While washing up after work and reviewing Russian vocabulary at the urinal I realized I forgot a very important category. I do not own any of his films but have thoroughly enjoyed everything he has directed. But where to fit him on the list and who to boot?
An edited list would give Buckaroo Banzai the boot (sorry Buckaroo) and insert a new film at number five shifting the others downwards.
5. Stranger Than Paradise- Jim Jarmusch doesn't make films that most people like. Those who do like his work tend to love his films. I like Jim Jarmusch films. I like them so much that at least half my list was targeted for the 'make room for Jarmusch' boot (and not all of them appear below its entry position). Down by Law is another good Jarmusch film, but not the quintessential piece this one is.
Is it odd that absurdism portrays people as they really are while realism always gets it wrong? Or is that just a comment on how I view life?
