Hawking on LHC & Pure ResearchI agree with Superman.
Hawking also doesn't think it's very likely that the LHC will successfully observe the Higgs boson, either. He placed a $100 bet that the Higgs boson wouldn't be found. He thinks it will be "more interesting" if we don't find the Higgs, because that means that something is wrong with the current models.

It's the Start of the LHC as We'll Know It...
...and I'm still blogging. Granted, they aren't actually colliding anything yet. Just flying a few particles round and round to see how it goes. Still, flinging particles at close to absolute zero and at nearly the speed of light is cool. In October we'll get the subatomic demolition derby. All this to catch a glimpse of 'the God Particle', something that in all likelihood doesn't even exist.
