In my absence from on-line life, I missed the recent news about the death of a certain performer whom I've admired for many years. He was born during the depths of the depression and came uf age in the stultifying culture of the 1950's. Between his experiences as a draftee following the Korean War and the social revolution of the 1960s he emerged as a thorn in the side of the establishment. Easily recognizable with his trademark beard and ponytail he was known for his irreverent sometimes juvenile humor, clever wordplay and anarchistic sensibilities. Yes, I'm talking about the one and only U. Utah Phillips.
There is a rich treasure trove of Utah Phillips' performances and interviews on YouTube, but I don't have time to link to them right now from work. Anyway, I'm going back offline, although I may be back in a few days with some exciting news.
