Luck O' the Irish, HAIL ERIS!

Due to the posting here, just hours before now...I'll post something real quick in lieu of working on my paper...

But so Jake can have his rant and eat it too...

My professor and I (as her ever loverly assistant) won the Leslie O. Fulton Grant last night.

Unfortunately, I do not have time to go into the chaotic, gory details of how this came about and the superstitious nature of the days leading up to the awards ceremony last night involving purple diamonds, red ale, yellow moons, etc.

But the end result is a paid trip to Ireland and 3-4 weeks of research and writing at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre.

Oh, and a few nights in Dublin for ethnographic studies involving copious amounts of Guinness.

Rant on about the !@$%^#$%&*s Jake!

Oh and.. we'll be here Saturday night celebrating...

Well done! What's your field? (Theatre, I presume, but what kind of theatre?)

Thank you both! I am still beaming from this.

I'm actually studying cultural anthropology and writing. I do have a Theater background that is heavy on the production side of the stage, from stage direction to prop creation and management.

What brought my professor and I together (besides my classes with her) is my ability to intuit needs and manage projects out of the chaos she thrives in.

I will be her personal assistant in Ireland, and working closely with her on the plays she is writing, while having the luxury to explore my own writing project.

I'm still in a state of disbelief, but am looking forward to next week when I get down to the nitty-gritty of getting myself and her off American Soil and into an adventure.

Can you feel the waves of vicarious smugness rolling toward you from Coeur d'alene? Congrats -- nobody deserves it more than you do!

So when are you going?
