Picasso x2

In the past two months I've been lucky enough to see a huge number of paintings by Pablo Picasso in person, at two different exhibits. Learned a lot about the artist, his art, his lovers, and myself in the process.

The first, at the Seattle Art Museum in January, was a very extensive Picasso retrospective, covering all the many styles and eras of his work,  his many affairs, etc. It was really informative, and seeing his work in a chronological and stylistic context like that really illuminated the artistic process. Truly one of the great geniuses of the 20th Century.

Cool Quote:  “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child”

The second exhibit, which I saw Friday, was much smaller and more intimate, and only a couple pieces were Picassos, but there were also several Picasso-influenced works by Roy Lichtenstein, etc.  This was an exhibit at the Bellagio hotel & casino in Las Vegas. With a mixture of pride and embarrassment I must confirm what you've no doubt already suspected about me: I am the sort of nerd who goes to the city of sluts and slots, but spends his time there ogling cubism. Maybe I should see a doctor about that.
