Correction: I meant the Ft. Hood spree killing, which apparently is no longer the latest mass-murdering, as apparently since I started compiling the list below, a mass-shooting has happened in Orlando, killing 2 and wounding 8. Yuck. This is a very messed-up world we live in....and suggesting that we should be screening the Muslims in our military to make sure they aren't all going to start killing Americans. Source. That's a pretty ridiculous and stupid idea that Fox has there.
I thought I'd share the following list. It's a list of the top spree killers, serial killers, mass murderers, school massacre perpetrators, "gone postal" co-worker killers, hate crime criminals, people who were arrested for repeatedly and intentionally hitting pedestrians with their cars, etc. These are the people, outside of 9/11 (and wars), who have killed the most Americans on American soil.

Notice anything about it? Of the 185 names on the list, hardly any of them are Muslim or Arabic. Even if you add in the 19 hijackers from 9/11, the list is still 90% non-Islamic. Yet Fox certainly isn't suggesting that we should screen all white males who join the military, despite the clear and abundant evidence that far more white males go on murderous rampages in the U.S. than any other group.
Which suggests to me that perhaps Fox's "news" hosts are a) ignorant, b) bigoted, c) politically manipulative, or d) some combination of two or three of the above.
I get that mass murders are creepy and alarming. They provoke knee-jerk radical paranoia, making people say and feel things we might regret in calmer moments. So, maybe I should give Fox a pass on this one... but then again, it's Fox, and they talk crap like that even when there's nothing horrible going on to excuse it.
I think there's a gotta be an achievable medium somewhere between the bigoted discrimination on the one side, and the tip-toe political correctness on the other... but if that sensible headspace even exists, it's sadly not seeing much use in the media and political spotlights.
