Faced with massive unsustainable public and private debt, and the prospect of what the Iraqi factions will do to each other and their neighbors once we stop paying them not to fight, he'd do his party a favor to let Obama win and take the blame for the fallout from the Bush years.
The conservative bloggers are trying to blame Pelosi already, but they know that the general public focuses on the President and generally ignores Congress.

If McCain wins, they get their agenda for 4 more years. On top of that, they get to claim that America wasn't ready for a Black candidate, and keep that from happening again for another 20 years.
If Obama wins, they get to blame the Democrats for all the fallout from the Bush disaster. On top of that, the Repubs can claim that America wasn't ready for a female VP, and hold that off for another 20 years. On top of that, they get to claim that McCain was too centrist, and that a more hard-line conservative would have won, thereby placating dissent within their own party. "We through you a bone with McCain, we ain't doin' that again."

Wow. That was some funny, funny shit.
NOTE: Do not ever piss Dave off. Do you think maybe McCain is intentionally sinking his chances so Obama wins? Maybe he wants Obama to win.
