You can't make shit like this up

Maybe I'll lose my anarchist card for saying this, but sometimes politicians can be so fucking hilarious, that I'll be almost sad to see the father-rapers go up against the wall when their time comes. Where else will I get entertainment like this?
The Bush administration on Friday sent Congress a letter that included 13 proposed spending offsets for the farm bill...

One of the proposed offsets would save $6.8 billion over 10 years through a reduction in Medicare reimbursements for oxygen equipment. Under current Medicare regulations, the program covers 36 months of oxygen for beneficiaries after they leave the hospital. Under the proposed offset, Medicare would cover only 13 months of oxygen.
Seriously, who needs The Onion?

While I know that most of the farm bill goes to subsidize huge corporate farms, this proposal makes a lot of sense. We all eat and breathe. Almost nobody can grow or forage their own food any more, but most people can still extract enough oxygen from the air to survive. I just can't stomach the thought of all those old people getting Hollywood style oxygen bar service in the privacy of their own homes while I have to breath air like some fuckin' homeless bum!

If a pharmacudical company designed "special" oxygen at an inflated cost they'd reinstate the 36 month rule in a heartbeat!

It's a good thing they didn't make me choose between the $600 rebate check and providing an extra 23 months of life for some old person.

Luckily, we've got politicians to wash the blood off our hands for us.

That's what governments do best.
