Touch at a Distance

Very cool. I spend a lot of time with art & design nerds who work with images, video, machinery and the written words, but I've never spent much time with people who craft in sound like this.
In spring of 2006, Jad and Robert took the stage at the SoHo Apple Store to talk about the making of Radio Lab. Jad geeks out on the nitty-gritty of digital sound editing, and Robert discusses the editorial questions raised in creating imaginative soundscapes. Film-editor Walter Murch weighs in on the components of storytelling.
I could really see getting into this sort of work if, of course, it weren't for my lousy ears. Not that I'm complaining, I enjoy my trade very much, if not my job.
