Empire of Debt
So I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I'd finally started reading Richard Florida's Rise of the Creative Class, but I've put it on hold since the library notified me that Empire of Debt by Bill Bonner was in stock. This book not only succinctly contrasts the finances and follies of empires past and present along with their hapless leaders and subjects, but it does so in a exquisite prose which light-heartedly skewers do-gooders of every political stripe. I strongly recommend checking this book out. It's one of the few books on finance that I've had trouble putting down for things like sleep, using the toilet, and making sure the kids aren't actually killing each other.
