I have to honest and say if currently 2% of the movies made get seen that is too high a number. A lot of the stuff that makes it to film festivals is crap so I can not even imagine the pile of trash that never makes it.

I just watched half of Slipstream with Anthony Hopkins before I could no longer take it and I never turn a movie off. It was so bad it made by brain hurt. I even watched all of American Astronaut and that was terrible.

Just as every 2 year olds finger painting should not be reproduced and distributed or sold so should every film not be shared. These things only mean something to the creator and a few close friends or family. The rest of the world wants to be entertained not tortured. If you are going to torture and you think anyone cares do it in 5 min blocks and post it on YouTube. An hour or two of mindless plot, bad acting and terrible film quality is really more than most people will endure.

With that said there are plenty of main stream movies that should never have been allowed in a theater either. They are more about selling toys than any actual plot. The Hulk is the worst offender. Even special effects and explosions could not save the seamy pile.

The worst thing about cheap cameras and internet video is for every diamond you have to move a mountain of shit. I would rather have someone else move the mountain and take the chance of missing a diamond here and there.

While "shoveling the mountain of shit" it would seem I struck a nerve.

Not so much a nerve as a dilemma. So many people think they know what movies are good. So many people are so very wrong. I learned a long time ago to never watch any movie recommended by my youngest brother. But he is easy, everything he likes is crap. Others are not so easy to peg so you get trapped. I have a compulsion that does not allow me to turn a movie off. Because of this I end up watching a lot of junk hoping it will redeem itself. I just get so flustered when someone tells me "you have to see such and such". Do I trust them? Such a dilemma. Lets just say everyone thinks their baby is sooooo cute and you just have to hold it. Yet we all know some damn ugly brats and you just smile and hope for one of those ugly ducking stories.

Yeah, pretty much I only watch a film based on a review/recommendation if the reviewer can tell me why I'll like it. As a result, I have yet to see The Transformers.

...or if it's really damn short. I'll give just about anyone 3 minutes of my time - once.
