Transhumanism

Meme for the day, Transhumanism. Got the video link from here. Happened to notice that he is speaking at Portland State University in the vid.

But I don't agree with him. I haven't forgotten that I'm human. I'm just trying to forget. There is more at clusterlizard who links to a BBC article on artificial intelligence and nanobots. On the topic of transhumanism and some of the topics mentioned in the other stuff I have linked to so you haven't gone and read yet, there is a chapter on digital self replication in Great Mambo Chicken and the Transhuman Condition.

Circuitous and pressured speech, psychomotor agitation, paranoia, loose associations... Oh, a quick google search reveals he's a poet. I suppose that explains it...

I haven't yet perused all of your AI links, but it's a subject I find rather fascinating. This is on my to-read list:

Hawkins dispels the brain as computer myth and looks at brain function from his point of view (developed mobile tech, including PalmPilot).

Actually, I was just reading something about "embodied cognition." The authors were discussing how flexibly our internal body maps can be altered to perceive virtual sensations. In discussing the many practical applications to this research, they referred to a splinter field known as "teledildonics."
