You know, I bet he gets sick of that headline showing up every time he unzips his pants.Peter Jackson to produce 'The Hobbit'
Two "Hobbit" films are scheduled to be shot simultaneously, similar to how the three "Lord of the Rings" films were made. Production is set to begin in 2009 with a released planned for 2010, with the sequel scheduled for a 2011 release. While the fanboy in me just wants to suck it all up, I have to ask, does The Hobbit really need two films? I'm uncertain what I think of The Hobbit being split in half. And keeping with the first joke, I'm sure Peter's Peter doesn't like it either. (Ba-dum-bump! Man, this place needs a drummer.) But I digress...
There was a lot more happening in The Trilogy then in The Hobbit, yet Return of the King was a good 30 minutes too long. This makes me a tiny bit nervous. I'm trying to think why you'd need so much film time for a relatively light book. I mean, as impressive as Smaug and the Battle of the 5 Armies could be on the big screen, that last third of the tale could also be summed up in less than 5 minutes of visuals. In fact, they have been via cartoon. Oh well, we musts trusts the master. The master loves us. I'll likely be there on opening day for both films.
And speaking of Cartoons....
Other Kovalic riffs on New Line and Lord of the Rings. You know, just go to his site and spend all day there. John Kovalic's a genius and it'll be well worth your time.
