Are you being sarcastic? I don't even know anymore.

Top story on Google News, one more body found in the 35W bridge collapse.

Blame is flying in all directions.

Further down in the "World" section:

4 US Soldiers dead in Baghdad.

8 Dead in China tidal current.

50 Dead in Sierra Leone ferry capsize.

100 Dead in Congo train wreck.

1000 dead in South Asia flooding.

But they're not from my "tribe".

Fuck it, I can't even express proper cynicism.

Quoating from Workday Minnesota:" Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty vetoed a transportation bill that would have provided funding for road and bridge repair and construction as well as funding for mass transit. Pawlenty vetoed the bills, in part, because he would not support an increase in the state’s gas tax to fund state transportation needs — even though the tax hasn’t been raised in almost 20 years.

(Pawlenty, by the way, also has cut Local Government Aid to the state’s counties and cities, resulting in cuts to police, fire, public works and transit — all now the agencies responding to yesterday’s disaster)."

Let's not also forget that while my local politicians didn't have the money to keep up the infrastructure, since the bridge was built in 1967,they've used public money to build the Metrodome, Target Center, Excel Center and were scheduled to do a groundbreaking on the $500 million new Twins stadium the day after the bridge collapsed. Pawlenty has had no trouble allowing tax increases for sports projects.

Apparently sports are the priority.
