Tragedies strike, big and small, and we all hope it won't happen to us or our loved ones or people who we give even a little damn about. But sometimes it does. So the
I-35W bridge collapsed, a bridge I used often while living in Minneapolis. Seeing that I know plenty of people in the MSP, its possible someone I knew was involved in some way. But right now I am cold and ugly and just don't care. It's a little tragedy with collateral damages well within an acceptable limit. The body count is actually quite low considering what happened. For those of you who also feel empty and apathetic, you are not alone.
'I think everybody is looking at fatigue right now,' said Kent Harries, an assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering in the University of Pittsburgh's School of Engineering.
Amen, Kent. I think there are a whole lot of us who are fatigued. I'm so tired I just can't care. Or maybe that's the summer cold I caught.
There's a lesson to be learned in all this. If you don't feed the troll under the bridge he will jump up and eat you.
