Two Canadian commedians managed to convince Palin's staff that they were the Prime Minister of France. Palin took the call, and they humiliated her. Link to the story. Here's the full audio of the prank call, with some enriching visuals...
That is pretty funny, though I feel a little bad for her. Falling to a conman is something that can happen to anyone, no matter how smart you are. Even if she wasn't a total idiot, she might have been taken in.
However, her reactions to "I just love killing those animals! Mmm, mm, taking away life is so fun!" are pretty revealing.
Her lack of concern when he talks about having watched Hustler's Nailin' Paylin is pretty funny, too.
She must have been thinking "He's a bit of a perv, but I'm finally getting that foreign diplomacy experience I needed for my resume! Need his approval so badly, I mustn't rock the boat." Except with a few "you betcha" and "gosh golly"'s thrown in for color.
When he finally admits to it being a prank call, she doesn't school him for being dishonest, nor does she gracefully laugh it off, instead she runs away. If she'd been smart enough to claim she'd figured them out several minutes prior, she could have turned it around. PR opportunity missed. If that's how she does against radio comics, I'm afraid to hear how she'd fare in diplomatic confrontations.
