I'm starting to (re-)warm up to this guy

I voted for him, and then spent the first year of his term watching him backpedal and fail. It was frustrating.

Then he and his team got some health care reform passed, and while the concessions and loopholes in it really alarmed me, at least he got something done. I was thankful, even if kinda worried.

Then he set a Mars schedule for NASA, and it made me smile. I think getting off this rock is an important goal for our species. At the same time, though, I can't say that NASA plans really figured into any of progressive campaign promises that made me vote for him. Plus, I couldn't rule out that a 2030 goal might just be lip service and PR. So while it made me a little happy, it wasn't likely to have a lasting impact on my opinion of him.

That's when he went out of his way to remind me that he really was worth voting for after all. Obama orders hospitals to extend visitation and legal decision rights to gay and lesbian partners. Kick ass! There's a liberal, progressive, socially conscious, forward minded, humane thing he enacted by way of Presidential power. Something you can be absolutely certain would not have been done under a Republican administration. Well done, Mr President.
