MWI (the Many Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics) suggests there's a very high likelihood that in some other reality the LHC still hasn't started, and in yet another it did start and we all died.
As happy as I am that the cat didn't die, I never would have put it in that booby-trapped box in the first place. ...Or, at least, the me in this reality never would have done so. :)
