Happy Birthday Two You

This Saturday marks a very important day in history. Up until this year I had no idea how important.

While a large cross section of the country will purchase cards in pinks and reds, maybe fatten up their potential lovers with candy and chocolate or bribe them into bed with flowers, something more monumental will take place.

February 14th marks the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln. We all know of how he sat as President through the Civil War and gets all the credit for freeing the slaves. But what would Lincoln be like in the modern age? How would Lincoln vote?

February 14th also marks the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin. Darwin: shy teen, med school dropout, dad of 10. Learn all about the father of evolutionary theory in a way that will give you hope for your own pathetic life.

Two great men of history that happen to share the same birth date. The only other connection I could find between the two revolves around Lincoln bearing a strong resemblence to a very tall Dr. Zaius. That aside, perhaps at the core of their greatness resided a deep seeded resentment for birthday cards plastered with red and pink hearts accompanied with gifts of horrid candies.

Scotty asked me today how we turned from small, furry things into people.

Just trying to figure out how to explain it, I finally understood the creationist point of view. It's much simpler to explain, and thus far more convenient.
