Gogol Bordello

I'm skipping work to see the show tonight. It's kicking off my week long celebration of turning 35.

How was it?

If 35 better than any other birthday? Just curious why is requires a whole week of celebration.

I'm just making up for the fact that through my 20's I was a huge curmudgeon about my birthdays and did not feel the need to celebrate them. And of course for an old freak like me, every year becomes a big 'fuck you' to everyone who said I was going through a phase.

Describing Gogol Bordello as a freight train is only apt if you imagine yourself as a car abandoned on the tracks.

They're pretty cool. I think I'd like them better if I could parse the lyrics, though. Don't get me wrong, I understand the accent is vital to the sound. Lyrics are a big deal to me, though, and the snippets I'm able to decipher sound appealing, but most of it is just escapes me. Whether that's their accents or my nerve deafness to blame for that is debatable.
