Delta Force interview from 60 Minutes

A very interesting segment from CBS's 60 Minutes. The interview below is with an officer of Delta Force (wearing extensive make-up since he does undercover work). He tells the tale of how his team was sent to Afghanistan in 2001 to kill Osama Bin Laden, but were hamstringed and reigned-in by higher officials. This interview could be seen (and I do) as strongly supporting allegations (from Michael Moore, from the 9/11 Truth movement, etc) that the war was never intended to punish or deter terrorists.
"We want[ed] to come in on the back door," Fury explains. "The original plan that we sent up through our higher headquarters, Delta Force wants to come in over the mountain with oxygen, coming from the Pakistan side, over the mountains and come in and get a drop on bin Laden from behind."

But they didn't take that route, because Fury says they didn't get approval from a higher level. "Whether that was Central Command all the way up to the president of the United States, I'm not sure," he says.

...

"How often does Delta come up with a tactical plan that's disapproved by higher headquarters?" Pelley asks.

"In my experience, in my five years at Delta, never before," Fury says.

Despite the meddling, he got within 2 km of Bin Laden, and thought his unit had actually killed Bin Laden. It was nearly 6 months before they (or command) learned otherwise.

Also vailable commercial-free at RAW.

For 6 months Delta and Army Command thought Bin Laden was dead, but the American public never heard about it!?! (Or perhaps that's what that "Mission Accomplished" banner was supposed to represent?) Those wars have never had anything to do with terrorism, they are about extending US socioeconomic domination across the globe. Just like in 1984, or Fahrenheit 451, the war is unjustified, unending, and ultimately just a diversion to keep us from reforming the country we live in.
