Yet another attempt to invade our privacy

This comes of course, at a time when my congress people keep responding to my almost daily Impeachment emails with "We've got more important things to do right now than impeach the president. Remember how the government shut down during the Clinton impeachment? We don't want people to think we're doing nothing."

Problem is, it's becoming increasingly clear that the work the Democratic congress is trying to do is just the continued goonery that the Republican President started. They keep passing bills into law that further invade our privacy, impinge upon our rights, and protect those who do both.

Here's the scoop on yet another bill congress is planning to pass:

Senate Housing Bill Requires eBay, Amazon, Google, and All Credit Card Companies to Report Transactions to the Government
...
Hidden deep in Senator Christopher Dodd's 630-page Senate housing legislation is a sweeping provision that affects the privacy and operation of nearly all of America's small businesses. The provision, which was added by the bill's managers without debate this week, would require the nation's payment systems to track, aggregate, and report information on nearly every electronic transaction to the federal government.

Call Congress and Tell Them to Oppose The eBay Reporting Provision in the Housing Bill: 1-866-928-3035

FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey commented: "This is a provision with astonishing reach, and it was slipped into the bill just this week. Not only does it affect nearly every credit card transaction in America, such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, but the bill specifically targets payment systems like eBay's PayPal, Amazon, and Google Checkout that are used by many small online businesses. The privacy implications for America's small businesses are breathtaking."
Whether on the right or left, you should be against this piece of legislation. The only political ideology where such legislation makes sense is the upper 20% of the grid (which, for those who haven't checked out politicalcompass yet, that's the idealogical area where facism, stalinism, and other forms of extreme militant nationalism reside). It invades your privacy and it hurts small businesses.

The simple solution is to pay CASH as much as possible for anything. I know this isn't possible with online transactions, but for anything else it slips below Uncle Stalin's, I mean Sam's radar. It not only escapes the government's view but also keeps the Visa fee in your local merchant's pocket.
