Political Compass dot Org

Tired of the "Left vs Right" categorizations that don't seem to match reality? Sick of getting lumped in with guys with whom you don't really have a stitch in common? Feel that the "political center" has drifted in a particular direction that no one seems to acknowledge?

I did, and so I poked around at PoliticalCompass.org. Very interesting system. I rated a -6.15, -6.25, which wouldn't really be a surprise to anyone who knows me and has taken a few minutes to look over their charts. The famous politicians it puts me closest to are the Dalai Llama, Nelson Mandela, Matahma Gandhi, Ralph Nader, and Dennis Kucinich, in roughly that order. I'm actually pretty radically far away from the majority of Democratic politicians, which explains a few things.

(As I said, my political "grid coordinates" are -6.15, -6.25. Obama's around a +3, +2. McCain's around a +6, +4. So the difference between me and Obama is far greater than the difference between Obama and McCain.)
