AWPC: So Damn Nerdy

If you get this you are at least as nerdy as I am.
Him: You ever watch Doctor Who?

Me: I love Doctor Who. The new series is awesome.

Him: I've been watching a bunch of the really old episodes. They're like two hours long, but they've divided them up into two parts.

Me: Interesting way to do it. Yeah, the original series typically consisted of four half hour segments per episode. Which Doctor is it?

Him: Chris something.

Explain please. Here you go:

The only "Chris something" who played The Doctor was Chris Eccleston. He's the 9th Incarnation of the Doctor, IIRC. He was the "soccer hooligan" doctor with the shaved head and big ears, from like 3 years ago. He was the first doctor of the new series.

This coworker said he'd been watching "really old" episodes, yet indicated they were starring Chris. That would imply the coworker is unaware of the real old series, with it's 7 doctors and over 25-year run.

Jake gently taps index finger to tip of nose.

Thanks Rolfe.

I also felt that warm nerdy glow when I had to explain to him what a Police Box was historically and why the Tardis looks like one. I am a Doctor Who equivalent of CBG.

Ah. I get it now. I just presumed there must have been an older Chris. I fall into the "aware of the old episodes but haven't seen them" category.

BTW, Jake, I wanted to point you toward a recent post of mine, since I remember you mentioning Al Perkin's HAND, HAND, FINGERS, THUMB at some point.
