Stimson Lumber announced Tuesday the saws at the Dearmond Mill, built in 1960 along the banks of the Spokane River, will go silent in 60 days. Another mill owned by Stimson Lumber in Montana is also shutting down.
At one point several mills defined the Coeur d'Alene landscape but now the last one is closing because of the sagging housing market and employees are producing only half the lumber they used to.
But good news! All those people losing their jobs at the mill can now get $7 an hour to scrub toilets at the resort or serve 64 oz sodas at the Regal Gigaplex.

No, you have to pay extra for that.
Holy crap! They pay $7 an hour to sell soda at the theatre these days? I remember when $7 was management wages.

In my adult life, wages have doubled, rents have tripled, and energy has quadrupled. A rising tide lifts all boats as the supply-siders say.
..And fuck everyone who doesn't own a boat.
