Lies My Government Told Me

Caveat: I've seen UFOs twice - once from close enough that it couldn't be a simple mistake on my part. I've read (and watched) a fair amount about the UFO and Abduction phenomenon. I've taken two trips to the UFO museum and research center in Roswell. I feel that lends strength to what I'm about to say, but some may feel it detracts instead, so I figured it was important to mention it.

My opinion is that there is something going on, and it did involve a crash in Roswell in '47, and that the government has lied (and this lying has been documented and proven) to cover it up.

Was that crash an alien ship? I think so, but I can't say that I really know for certain. For all I know, it could have been an experimental craft Major Jesse Marcel was unfamiliar with, such as a Russian spyplane. Seems weird that he'd see Russian technology and not know it for what it was, but I suppose that's within the realm of possibility. Even weirder is the idea that he could mistake a weather balloon and radar target, which launched weekly from his base, for something of alien origin.

What I do know is that the official story is provably bullshit. Major Jesse Marcel was not punished for "erroneously" claiming he'd found a flying disc and starting this PR nightmare. Instead he was promoted and given a higher security clearance. When interviewed late in life, both he and Brigadeer-General Dubose testified that they had been involved in a cover up that included a retraction and a staged photo of Marcel with a balloon. Our government lies to us. Many high-ranking officers of that government have said as much, some of them while under oath.

The second part of the official cover-story (updated in the 90's by the Air Force) involves "parachute test dummies" that were mistaken for alien bodies - however, records from the company who manufactured said dummies show that they didn't make the first prototype for several years after the 1947 incident.

If terrestrial explanations exist that would make sense, then a government honestly committed to the truth and/or the best interests of it's citizenry would not rush to a foolish and disprovable position and then defend it irrationally for 60 years.

Since they clearly have (supported a foolish and error-ridden theory for many decades), I feel compelled to conclude that:
  • the real explanation is extra-terrestrial,
  • they don't have the citizenry's best interests at heart,
  • or both.
60 years. Think about that. No Russian spyplane, no "broken arrow" or misplaced nuke, no top secret US aircraft, would remain classified after all that time. Examples of all three exist, and those examples have been declassified once the tech was exceeded, the situation was rememedied, and/or there was no danger in letting the cat out of the bag. Whatever truths these (obvious) lies are hiding are so big, so scary, that they don't want it revealed while even one person involved is still alive.
