Pakistan makes heads hurt (mine and hers)

So let me see if I've got this straight...
  • Mushareff's regime and Al-Quaeda are supposedly enemies. (This, despite the fact that Mushareff suspended the Pakistani constitution twice and engages in rigged elections. Bush swares the terrorists hate us because of our freedoms. Whatever. For the sake of the argument, we'll assume that somehow Bush's position makes sense.)
  • Benazir Bhutto was the leader of the faction opposed to Mushareff. She's assassinated. Mushareff claims Al-Quaeda killed her. Despite the fact that her death largely helps him by silencing the non-violent opposition. (Whatever happened to that "enemy of my enemy is my friend" proverb?) Despite the fact that Al-Quaeda generally makes random terror attacks, not pinpoint assassination attempts.
  • And now, the autopsy reveals that she wasn't hit by bullets or shrapnel, but instead died from (non-explosive) blunt force trauma to her head. We are told that she jumped into the car so fast, she killed herself. Where are Adam and Jamie when need them?
Clearly the freedoms and liberties of the Pakistani people are in as great a jeopardy as the Iraqi's were pre-invasion. The country has large numbers of terrorists in it by all accounts. Why the hell do we still have even the faintest semblance of diplomatic relations with Mushareff? Why aren't we invading Pakistan? Please don't interpret this post as a vote in favor of invading Pakistan. I despise violence. It's instead a vote against being in bed with any of these fascist loonies, from Bush to Mushareff to Al-Quaeda and beyond.

It certainly can't be because they have The Bomb. I mean, the supposed existence of said devices is what justifies our considering invading Iran.
Gotta find those WMDs.

So there's another reason, a reason that's not being told to us. Could be as innocently hypocritical as he and Dubya being buddies, but it could just as easily be darkly conspiratorial.
