While looking up some things on the Logan Act (the law likely violated by Reagan and Bush Sr during the October Surprise portion of Iran-Contra) and it's relevence to the Bilderburg Group, I stumbled across a reference to The Quasi-War.
The Quasi-War. Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Now I'm a fan of history - especially the exciting bits. I've even been known to buckle my swash from time to time. So it kinda stuns me that I've never before read anything about this undeclared 2-year piratical war with France.
Turns out the Logan Act is named after this pacifist (Mr. Logan) who tried to negotiate with France on behalf of America during said undeclared war. The establishment felt so threatened, they passed a law to make what he'd done a crime. And here I thought it was a law intended to prevent sandmen from running.
