AWPC: Zeitgeist!

Him: How do you pronounce Z-E-I-T-G-E-I-S-T?

Me: Zeitgeist.

Him: That's it. Have you seen this movie floating around Google by that name?

Me: Yeah. With all that Jesus and Mithra mythology stuff at the beginning?

Him: Yeah. My son brought it over for me to watch. Do you suppose even half of that is true?

Me: Yeah. The mythology stuff is all pretty much true.

Him: Is this documented anywhere?

Me: Yeah.

Him: Where?

Me: All over. It's no secret. You can even get a university degree in comparative mythology.

Him: Yet people still believe in all this? Why? Are they stupid?

Me: Most likely.
Because people call other people's deities mythology. Believing in mythology is not stupid. Believing in the Bible (or the Eddas, or the Book of Mormon, or the Principia Discordia, or whatever) as the literal word of god or believing what your local ordained clergy tells you is stupid.

And now for an endorsement from an ordained minister! For those who haven't seen it, check out Zeitgeist! Tis the season...

It's 4 days later and I still can't get my mind off this video. It does a really awesome job of exposing conspiracy.

I used to think Conspiracy Theory was fun, but mostly bunk. I liked to use it in games and artwork, but didn't really believe it.

Oh, sure, I was certain the Warren Commission had covered up something, but it could have been Secret Service incompetance they were glossing over. It could have been links to the mafia or communists that would have lead to major embarassment and/or a war. I was willing to accept that. I ate the lie.

Because people, like myself, are willing to accept "easy answers" and lies, we have volatile situations today like Iraq, Afganistan, and Iran.
