Courtesy of the K.C. GOP at the July 4th parade

Update: Not wanting to look any less stupid than the Kootenai County GOP, the Minnesota State Legislature has decided to ban all sales of foreign-made American flags.
Minnesota has passed the strongest measure, a new law that goes into effect at year's end requiring every Old Glory sold in state stores to be domestically produced. Violations are a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and 90 days in jail.

In Arizona, schools and public colleges were required starting July 1 to outfit every classroom from junior high up with a made-in-the-USA flag. Tennessee requires all U.S. flags bought via state contract to be made here, and similar bills are moving forward in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
JUMPING JESUS MOTHERFUCKING H. CHRIST ON A POGO STICK!! You can't fix American consumers' preference for cheaply made Chinese shit by forbidding them to buy it! It will only cause the quality of American made products to decline to fill the demands of a society with an increasingly throw-away mentality. And don't think for a second that the Chinese are sitting on their assets. As soon as they see weakness in the top end of the US manufacturing sector, they will do the same thing that the Japanese did in the '80s and Korea did in the last decade, moving from cheap crap to good shit.

In related news, it looks like Chrysler Group will be selling Chinese-built cars under the Dodge brand by the end of the decade.

You rambled on a bit. The sentence should have read, "You can't fix American consumers' preference for cheaply made Chinese shit!"

AWPC:

Lady: Walmart imports way too much stuff from China. There's supposed to be a law that limits how much they can import. The government needs to start enforcing it.

Me: Why not just stop shopping at Walmart?

Lady: I can't afford to do that.

No, I submit that there is one way to fix America's appetite for cheap Chinese crap: Go broke. Fortunately, that plan is coming along quite nicely.

I think I'd rather see them ban Chinese toys made with lead paint instead. If commerce keeps going the way it is the only flag we'll be able to buy is the Chinese one anyways.
