Between 100,000 and 300,000 barrels a day of Iraq’s declared oil production over the past four years is unaccounted for and could have been siphoned off through corruption or smuggling, according to a draft American government report...I'm certain that the theft of oil and petroleum based products has nothing to do with Yankee carpetbaggers. I am especially certain it has nothing to do with Yankee carpetbaggers under government contract. It's those damned insurgents. That's how they keep affording to attack the world's largest military. It's the insurgents. Even when it was the bears I knew it was the immigrants... I mean insurgents.
Iraqi and American officials have previously said that smuggling of refined products like gasoline and kerosene is probably costing Iraq billions of dollars a year in lost revenues. The smuggling of those products is particularly feared because officials believe that a large fraction of the proceeds go to insurgent groups.

Billions in Oil Missing in Iraq
I'm sure Americans are truly concerned with this. No, seriously. Your average American views Iraq as one giant oil field that we should have free access to for liberating them from the brutal dictator we set them up with. That way at least something good comes out of this whole damn mess. Or if they're on the other side of politics, that was always part of the deal. Either way, the oil is supposed to be ours.
